Some of the easiest discounts to obtain are discounts for being a part of an organized group. Some of the main group discounts we see are for college alumni members, credit union members, Michigan Education Association (MEA) members, or AARP members (or similar seniors group). Another thing to consider, if you have younger drivers, is that their good grades may save you money. Many carriers give a good student discount for student drivers with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
Also, you should always consider writing your home and auto insurance with the same carrier. Nine times out of 10, you will save money by having both policies with the same company.
Lastly, some insurance companies offer a discount for having a life or umbrella insurance policy with their company. In some cases, adding the umbrella or life policy can actually save you more money, costing you less than what the home and auto policy alone would have. More coverage for a lower price? Sounds good to me!
