Q: What happens if I cancel my car insurance policy before it expires?

February 1, 2019

Answer:

You may cancel your car insurance at any time. If you are paid ahead, the carrier will refund you the pro-rated difference. If you are not paid ahead, you will be expected to pay for the time you were covered. Please keep in mind that Michigan is a mandatory insurance state and a lapse in insurance coverage may result in higher premiums when you try to purchase coverage again.
