In early 1999 BHS began a partnership with the American Public Garden Association to provide risk management and insurance services to their corporate members. We developed the program in response to the difficulties public gardens faced in purchasing insurance appropriate to their unique needs. Plant collections, significant numbers of volunteers, thousands of visitor annually and “special events” were a challenge for most insurance companies.
In the past 20 years we have helped 100’s of Gardens of all sizes in 30 + states to obtain appropriate and cost effective insurance, adopt meaningful risk management strategies, implement appropriate injury response plans, and draft appropriate risk transfer contract protocols that protect their institution’s interest. Our insurance company adjusters and legal team have developed successful strategies for expediting and mitigating the costs of claims that are common to public gardens.
