New Business Insurance Agent - Personal Lines
Candidates interested in this position should be able to sell personal insurance to new and referral prospects. This is a tremendous opportunity for a personal lines insurance agent to elevate their skills and responsibilities in a sales role. If currently in a sales role, this opportunity is elevated with the BHS presence and infrastructure, compensation plans and carriers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Engage with new prospects who come to BHS from referrals, website, centers of influence, and phone calls. Obtain information from customers to complete quote submissions using a comparative rating tool. Make recommendations including up-selling and cross-selling essential insurance products. Provide accurate proposals for coverage.
- Utilize comparative rating software and software provided by carriers to develop solutions for prospects.
- Help prospects by asking probing questions to determine buying motivation and actively listening to determine customer needs.
- Develop solutions by presenting proposals to each prospect in a manner that is organized and easy to understand.
- Follow up on prospects to move them to a client position.
- Follow up on requests from insurance company regarding missing or additional information needed to issue policy as requested. Sale is not completed solely upon submitting application.
- Communicate with customers via in-person meetings, virtual meetings via TEAMS, email, written correspondence and telephone.
- Promptly return voice, text messages and email inquiries.
- Maintain relationships with agency centers of influence or referral sources.
- Attend corporate meetings or trade shows.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- College education or 3 years equivalent experience.
- Property and Casualty License or acquire license within 60 days of hire.
- Maintain knowledge of industry such as new product information, coverages, and technology to stay current and fulfill continuing education requirements.
- Knowledge of insurance products and usage including rating procedures, coverages, and industry operations.
- Computer skills, including word, excel, browser based applications and outlook. Experience on Epic agency management system is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple prospects concurrently.
- Ability to problem solve to develop creative solutions for unique challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Willingness to become a student of the sales process in order to further skills.
- Positive team player who wants to compete in order to win new customers.
